Statement of Faith
Church of the Sacred Isle
The Church of the Sacred Isle stands within the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church, rooted in the faith once delivered to the saints and renewed through the living presence of the Holy Spirit. Drawing from the richness of the Anglo-Catholic tradition and the spiritual heritage of Celtic Christianity, we proclaim the following:
1. The Holy Trinity
We believe in one God, eternal and undivided:
Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three Persons in one divine communion of love.
God is the source of all life, present in creation, and revealed fully in Jesus Christ.
2. Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Word made flesh, truly God and truly human.
Through His life, teaching, death, and resurrection, He reveals the fullness of divine love, reconciles humanity to God, and opens the way of salvation to all.
3. The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the giver of life, who moves through the Church and the world, guiding, renewing, and sanctifying all creation.
The Spirit continues to inspire prophecy, justice, healing, and the deepening of faith.
4. Holy Scripture and Tradition
We affirm the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as containing all things necessary to salvation.
We honour Apostolic Tradition, the wisdom of the saints, and the continuing discernment of the Church, guided by the Spirit.
5. The Church
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, called to be a sacrament of God’s love in the world.
We embrace an inclusive and welcoming community, where all people are invited into the fullness of sacramental life, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance.
6. The Seven Sacraments
We uphold the seven sacraments as outward and visible signs of inward and spiritual grace:
- Baptism
- Confirmation
- Eucharist
- Reconciliation (Confession)
- Anointing of the Sick
- Holy Matrimony
- Holy Orders
Through these sacred mysteries, God nourishes, heals, and transforms us.
7. The Eucharist
We believe the Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life, in which Christ is truly present.
In the breaking of bread, heaven and earth are united, and we are made one in Christ.
8. Celtic Christian Spirituality
Inspired by the Celtic tradition, we affirm:
- The sacredness of all creation as a reflection of God’s glory
- The presence of “thin places” where heaven and earth draw near
- A rhythm of prayer rooted in daily life, nature, and community
- A call to hospitality, simplicity, and reverence for the earth
9. The Communion of Saints
We believe in the communion of saints—the great cloud of witnesses who surround us in prayer and example.
We honour saints of every age, especially those of the Celtic lands, as companions in faith.
10. Justice, Compassion, and Mission
We are called to live the Gospel through:
- Compassion for the poor and marginalised
- Care for creation
- Advocacy for justice and peace
- Radical hospitality and inclusion
11. The Hope of Glory
We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
God’s love is stronger than death, and all creation is being drawn into divine renewal.
